  7.     Summer can't get much hotter for M.C. Hammer. Moving off
  8. record-store shelves at the rate of more than 100,000 a day,
  9. his album Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em is about to become rap's
  10. all-time best seller. Unlike rap groups that do songs for
  11. "shock value," he says, "I'm selling entertainment that
  12. contains the message of positivity and concern for kids." Once
  13. a bat boy for his hometown Oakland A's, Hammer, 27, is in
  14. music's big leagues and batting 1.000.
